For women’s volleyball the top of the net is 2.24 m above the floor and the court measures 9.0 m by 9.0 m on each side of the net. Using a jump serve, a player strikes the ball at a point that is 3.0 m above the floor and a horizontal distance of 8.0 m from the net. If the initial velocity of the ball is horizontal, (a) what minimum magnitude must it have if the ball is to clear the net and (b) what maximum magnitude can it have if the ball is to strike the floor inside the back line on the other side of the net?

When the parent throws the ball back, she is standing and ends up releasing the ball from a point that is 2.50m above the ground. Your best guess is that she threw the ball upward at an angle of 60o with respect to the ground and it landed 13m away from her. - A volleyball player serves the ball with an initial velocity v0 of magnitude 13.40 m/s at an angle of 20° with the horizontal at initial height of 2.1m. Determine (A.) if the ball will clear the top of the net where distance of the net from the server is 9m and the height of the net is 2.43m, (B.) how far from the net the ball will land.arrow_forwardA hockey puck is given an initial velocity such that vx = 11 m/s and vy = 23 m/s, where the xy plane is horizontal. (a) What is the initial speed of the puck? (b) What angle (in degree) does the initial velocity make with the x axis? (c) What angle (in degree) does the initial velocity make with the y axis?arrow_forwardIn a volleyball game held in BSU, A CE student player at position X serves the ball from a height of 1.3m from the ground, imparting it with an initial velocity at an angle of 50° from the horizontal. He aimed the all to land at point 0, 0.5m short to an Engineering Faculty player, thus making an ace, Incidentally the Engineering Faculty player is an expert in mind reading. The instant the server hits the ball, Mr Engineering Faculty started running from rest with a constant acceleration a. A. Check whether the ball will clear the 2.42m high net.
