Interpretation:

Photons that will be absorbed by an electron present in n=1 state has to be identified and also the transition that occurs in each of the case given has to be indicated.

Concept Introduction:

Electron is excited from a lower energy level to a level of higher energy on absorbing energy or photon.  When the electron returns from higher energy level to lower energy level, the energy is released.  Change of energy in the orbitals that is involved can be given by the equation shown below.

    ΔE=E2E1

Where,

    ΔE is the change in energy.

    E2 is the energy of the excited state.

    E1 is the energy of the ground state.
