Important developments in globalization

Globalization is the process by which national and international markets of the world economy are integrated. The developments are:

  1. The rise of the global village
  2. The world is becoming one village through the use of electronic media. The digital age has formed new social structures within the context of culture. Many global villages are emerging leading to the world growing culturally larger and more complex. The time and space between different countries have shrunk and the electronic media has made it easier for the people all around the world to communicate with one another. Everything has become instantaneous and the social spheres has greatly expanded by the advanced digital technology. Different cultures have been able to connect with each other which has made trade in different cultural areas easier.
  3. Global Economy (one big world market)
  4. The world becoming one big market instead of many national ones. The global economy is the economy of the world and is considered as the international exchange of goods and services. The economies of the world are interacting with one another as one big market and not as small separate national markets. Despite the differences in geography and cultures, globalization has increased trade and business internationally uniting the economy of the world.
  5. E-commerce
  6. There has been trouble-free and simple buying and selling of goods and services through computer networks because of globalization. The global connectivity has led to less restrictions by physical borders and consumers access to different markets have expanded. E-commerce is creating ample opportunities for businesses to benefit from the new emerging markets. It has increased the international competitiveness which eventually leads to better customer satisfaction. Local businesses now have an opportunity to enter international markets to grow their business and gain better profits.
Conclusion

The three important developments in globalization are rise in the global village, global economy, and e-commerce.

About this Assignment As organizations grow, particularly in the global space, change is inevitable. As businesses take on a more global facing model, management must be ready to facilitate the changes that ensue. This means creating plans for introducing and managing change. Lewin's 3-Stage Model of Change and Kotter's 8-Step Change Model are widely used to help overcome barriers to change in organizations. Drawing on what you've learned in this course, please choose one of the following prompts and write a 2,000 word (minimum) report to address it. Prompt 1 You are in upper management for a mid-sized manufacturing company. Recent economic changes forced upper management to move much of the manufacturing to a foreign country. As a result, many of the state-side employees will be forced to work directly with foreign counterparts. There is great concern that the existing employees may not embrace the change, and you've been tasked with creating a plan to minimize the fallout. Develop a…
About this Assignment Keeping employees motivated is an important element of leadership and organizational behavior. In this course, you've learned about how employee morale is vital to a business's success. In a 2500 to 3000-word essay, research a case study of a company attempting to increase or maintain employee morale. Dissect these examples through the lens of an appropriate motivational theory from the course. Evaluate whether or not the initiative was successful in your opinion, and propose what you might have done differently and why. For example, at one point Linkedin gave each of its employees an iPad mini as a gesture of gratitude for employee contributions to the company. Questions someone could ask about this gesture include the following. What motivational theories apply to this example? What was Linkedin trying to accomplish through this gesture? Do you believe it was successful? Why or why not? What, if anything, would you have done differently and why? Remember to…
