Homelessness is a major issue for many cities throughout the United States. There is a serious social concern for the difficulties people face that lead to homelessness and the response from local governments on how to address the growing problem of space. Homeless people often sleep in public spaces such as parks or under bridges, but this is often a source of contention for officials and the general public. American society is divided into levels of status, with many believing homelessness is an unacceptable place in the social hierarchy.
