Summary Introduction
Lyme disease (LD) is a tick-borne zoonosis in the United States. Borrelia burgdorferi, a spirochete species is the primary causative agent of Lyme disease in the United States. In Europe, other spirochete species like Borrelia garinii and Borrelia afzelii are found to be responsible for the disease.
Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) is a bacterial disease caused by rickettsia, Rickettsia rickettsii. Originally, RMSF was detected in the Rocky mountain area. The RMSF spreads through the bite on an infected tick.
