What would be some of the characteristics of an ideal adhesive?
Some of the characteristics of an ideal adhesive.
Explanation of Solution
Adhesives are considered to be the most versatile method of joining two metals, glass, ceramics, plastics, rubbers, wood or even a variety of composite materials. It is widely used in many industries like construction, automotive or even furniture.
Adhesives are used in bookbinding, packaging, electronics or even medical and dental applications. Over the time adhesives has been grown from binding exterior and interior trims to joining major components like doors, windows and even truck assemblies.
An adhesive is considered to be an ideal adhesive when it is able to bind any material without reacting. Further, it need to be treated with special preparation and should be able to cure rapidly. Moreover, it needs to perform its function under all operating conditions.
