The mechanism by which cardiac output of an animal’s heart can be adjusted and also indicate which is more important for increasing cardiac output in mammals and fish.

Concept Introduction:

Cardiac output can be defined as the volume of blood which is pumped by the heart in one minute. Cardiac output is measured in liters per minute. Heart rate or stroke volume decides the cardiac output of an individual. Usually, a normal person has a cardiac output of approximate $4.7$ liters of blood in a minute.
