Summary Introduction

To explain:

How do plants and animal differ with regard to the type of compartment in which statoliths are found and the physiological mechanism for detecting their response to gravity.

Introduction:

The granules which are formed with the grains of the sand are known as statoliths, which are present in the chamber lined with ciliated receptor cells. The statoliths are present in statocyst organ and act as mechanoreceptor. The statoliths help in maintaining balance and sensing the gravity.
