Explanation of Solution

Thepost-and-beam floor system is built by using a standard foundation system, rather than having floor joists span between the foundation walls. When the mudsill is bolted to the foundation wall, then the beams are placed so that the top of the beams is flush with the mudsill. The beams are generally placed at 48 on center but the spacing can vary depending on the size of the floor decking to be used. The thickness of floor decking used for floors in post-and-beam method is 11/8 Sturd-I-Floor.
