What are some joining conditions where welding might not be the best choice?

The joining conditions where welding might not be best choice.
Explanation of Solution
Welding is the process of joining two metals by melting the materials. The metals may join with the help of filler material or non-filler material. The filler material is consumable material by which the welding cost increases. Most of the manufacturing industries use this technique for joining metals. The welding process is used to create permanent joints, which are not easy to dislocate without deforming the shape of the material.
The conditions where this technique is not used are as follows,
- It is not used where temporary joints are needed.
- It is not used where the welding cost is high.
- It is not used in materials that possess poor weldability.
- It is not used in the materials which have a shallow melting temperature. For this type of material, low temperature joining methods are preferred.
- It is not used where joints involve thin material.
