Carbon is an important element of all organic molecules and the living organisms continuously exchange carbon with atmosphere. Nitrogen is an essential component of proteins, nucleic acids and other biochemicals in living organisms. Phosphorous occurs in nucleic acids, ATP, and membrane phospholipids in vertebrates. All these elements are continuously circulated between the living components.
