Introduction:
The axons of many neurons have a segmented white insulating cover over it. This is called myelin sheath. The regions of the nerve fibre (axon) without this layer are called node of Ranvier. These nerve fibres are called myelinated and the ones that lack myelin sheath completely are called unmyelinated nerve fibre.
