Introduction:
Hemoglobin is the protein present in red blood cells that carries oxygen. According to the Bohr effect, as the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood increase, the pH level of blood decreases. The decrease in the pH of the blood further decreases the affinity of hemoglobin towards oxygen.
