Concept explainers
To determine:
The steps in negative control system of FSH and LH production in males.
Introduction:
Negative feedback system can be described as a signaling system in which a signal results in decreasing the output of the system.
Explanation of Solution
In males, the FSH and LH promotes the spermatogenesis and stimulate Leydig cells to produce testosterone. The Sertoli cells produce hormone inhibin and the Leydig cells produces testosterone. A high level of testosterone sends negative feedback to the pituitary and hypothalamus and inhibin send signals to pituitary to stop the production of FSH and LH.
