Summary Introduction

Expectorants are referred to the drugs that are used to increase the flow of mucus or phlegm in the respiratory tract. These drugs reduce the thickness of the secretions and it is cleared out by coughing. An expectorant could be administered orally or in the form of sprays. It helps to reduce or suppress a cough that is associated commonly with bronchitis, common cold, laryngitis, pertussis, pharyngitis, and paranasal sinusitis.
