Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The nitrogenous waste can be excreted in three forms, namely ammonia, urea and uric acid depending upon the availability of water. Most fishes and other aquatic organisms excrete ammonia as their nitrogenous waste.
The terrestrial animals cannot excrete ammonia as ammonia requires a lot of water for its excretion. Thus, they convert ammonia into urea which requires less water. Some sharks and mammals excrete urea as their nitrogenous waste. Many animals such as birds have very little access to water therefore they excrete uric acid which requires least amount of water for its excretion.
