Chapter 36, Problem 1RQ

Define the terms sample size, random sampling, population, and lot size.

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

Define the terms sample size, random sampling, population, and lot size.

Explanation of Solution

Sample size: As the name suggests, it is essentially the quantity of parts in a sample that need to be inspected. To obtain information about properties of the complete population, parts that are included in the sample are studied.

Random sampling: In this, a sample is selected from a given population where the all the items have equal probability of getting selected.

Population: It is also called universe and it includes the total number of parts that are similar from which a sample is selected.

Lot size: It is the subset of the population where more than one lot can be included in the subsets. They can be reflect the population.
