Concept introduction: Pancreas is a glandular organ present in the abdominal cavity of vertebrate that helps in regulation of sugar level in the body. It has both endocrine activity (maintain blood sugar) and exocrine activity (for digestion). It produces many hormones that include somatostatin (growth hormone-inhibiting hormone), glucagon and insulin (helps to maintain the glucose level). It secretes pancreatic juice that contains multiple diversities of enzymes including that help in digestion of food materials.
