Introduction:

Digestive system is an organ system which is involved in the mechanical and chemical breakdown of the nutrients present in food and absorption of the nutrients.

Explanation of Solution

The path of food starts from the buccal cavity, from where it goes down to the esophagus. The esophagus is a long cylindrical tube that is connected to the stomach dump all the food content there. The stomach is directly connected to the small intestine, which is the next structure in the pathway of food movement. In the small intestine, the nutrients are absorbed and the remaining food waste with water is transferred to the large intestine. In the large intestine the water is absorbed and remaining solid feces is transferred to the terminal structure called rectum and the waste is excreted out through anus.
