Concept introduction:

The LH hormone spikes during the mid of ovarian cycle and triggers ovulation. Another function of LH is to carry out the transformation of ruptured follicle to corpus luteum. In case if the fertilization takes place, the pre-embryo produces hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) which maintains the corpus luteum.
