Blood consist of red blood cells or erythrocytes, white blood cells and platelets. Red blood cells are red in color because of the presence of an iron containing pigment called hemoglobin. White blood cells are white in color as it lacks hemoglobin. Platelets are involved in blood clotting. White blood cells help in defense mechanism of the body
