Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Some mechanoreceptors are specialized epithelial cells called hair cells, which have deformable projections termed stereocilia that detect movement. The stereocilia are different from true cilia because they do not contain motor protein in their structure. They are displaced by movements of fluid or other physical stimuli. Stereocilia allow hair cells to be responsive to movements made by an animal.
