Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Pharynx is present in the throat, which receives the food. It contains a covering of epiglottis and an inner membrane of glottis. The food enters when the flap of epiglottis opens, which then moves through the esophagus and enters the stomach. They are composed of cartilaginous tissue.

Larynx is the sound box with vocal cords which produce sound when stretched. The stimulus of the intake of food or sound cannot be perceived simultaneously and therefore a person cannot eat and talk at the same time. The incoming air moves from the larynx to the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli of the lungs.
