Summary Introduction

Some primary transcripts are not involved in the process of translation and they have functions of their own. They are processed differently from the protein-coding transcripts. Many of these transcripts are synthesized by RNA polymerases other than polymerase II. They undergo different types of RNA processing. The processed form of primary transcripts includes some noncoding types of RNA.
