Introduction:
An action potential is a result of depolarization of the plasma membrane and travels through the axon of the neuron to stimulate the adjacent neuron against any stimulus received.
Myelinated neurons have myelin sheath around them. Myelin sheath is defined as the insulating layer present on the axons of most of the neurons. It is composed of fatty acids and proteins. It increases the rate of signal transmission quite efficiently.
