Chapter 3.3, Problem 4PQ
Summary Introduction

Eyes help to see and view different objects by forming the image on the retina, a part of eye serves as a screen for the purpose of image formation. The retina detects light and generates action potential within optic nerves. The photoreceptor cells are the rods and cones cells. These are present at the rear side of the retina.

Rods and cones both are the parts of retina in the eyes that contain membranes packed among photopigments molecules that absorb light and initiate photoreception process. The blind spot is a small spot in the visual field of two eyes, which corresponds to the optic disk’s position in the retina. Optic disk does not have any photoreceptors. The blind spot does not contain any photoreceptor, thus focused image cannot be seen.
