Vegetarian diets are associated with a lower risk of obesity and diabetes as well as other chronic conditions (Marsh, Zeuschner, & Saunders, 2012). Clearly a vegetarian diet can be a healthy one, but can a vegetarian diet lack nutrients? If so, which nutrients may be lacking? "ease". In a study of two adult twin sisters age 54, Beth and Mary, scientists were trying to understand why these twins had very
different body weights and why Mary was suffering from a gastrointestinal disease yet her sister was healthy. They studied the
healthy twin (Beth) to see if they could learn anything about her sisters disease from studying her. They were raised in the same
house until they went to different colleges (Beth stayed in London and Mary lived along the coast line in a farm town in France).
