Summary Introduction

Introduction: Plant secondary metabolites are those substances which do not have any direct role in the metabolism of the plant, but are required for the overall growth and protection of the plant. There are no specific pathways for manufacturing these metabolites, instead, they are formed by modifying the existing biochemical pathways. These substances help to protect plants from herbs, insects, and animals. Some of them aid in the xerophytic conditions and some provide resistance to mutations and maintain the overall survival of the plant.
