Summary Introduction

To differentiate: Life cycles of fungi and humans in terms of haploidy and diploidy.

Concept introduction:

Many plants, animals, and fungi reproduce by sexual reproduction. Sexual life cycle involve an alternation between meiosis and fertilization. In meiosis, the diploid cell gives rise to a haploid cell and two haploid cells (gametes) fuse to form a diploid zygote (fertilization). There are three main categories of sexual life cycle: diploid-dominant, haploid-dominant, and alternation of generations.
