Summary Introduction
The femoral artery is the largest artery that is present in the thigh. A block in femoral artery is treated by the femoral popliteal bypass surgery. This femoral artery supplies oxygen rich blood to the lower part of the leg. Atherosclerosis cause block in these arteries. This surgery is done by cutting the veins of the other part of the leg and it is attached above and below of the blockage. This is known as graft and the blood is rerouted though this vein.
