To explain: The reason why it is said that diffusion and bulk flow alternate in the pathway of oxygen delivery to the mitochondria.
Introduction: Most of the cells necessitate a constant oxygen supply and continuous exclusion of carbon dioxide. These gases of respiration are exchanged between the environment and the mitochondria in the cell by a combination of respiratory gas transport mechanisms such as bulk flow and diffusion.
