Introduction:

The macrophages produce cytokines that are called pro-inflammatory cytokines as collectively these cytokines induce increased inflammation at the infected tissue site.

Other cells that produce cytokines include Natural killer cells, T-cells, fibroblasts, mast cells, dendritic cells, stromal cells and many others including endothelial cells of the intestines.
