1.
Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis (CVP Analysis):
CVP Analysis is a tool of cost accounting that measures the effect of variation on operating profit and net income due to the variation in proportion of sales and product costs.
Break-Even Point:
Break-even point is a point of sales where company can cover all its variable and fixed costs. It is a point of sales where revenue generated is equal to the total costs. Thus, profit is zero at this level of sales.
Contribution Margin Percentage:
Contribution margin percentage is the excess of selling price over variable cost demonstrated in percentage.
To compute: Break-even point.
2.
To compute: Total contribution margin and operating income when 175,000 units are sold.
3.
To compute: Total contribution margin and operating income when 175,000 units are sold.
4.
To explain: Comparison between break-even point in point 1 and 2. Lower break-even points are not always better.

The president plans to sell 200,000 units during the next period, consisting of 80,000 units of H, 100,000 units of J, and 20,000 units of K. The products have unit contribution margins of $2, $3, and $6 respectively. The company's fixed costs for the period are $406,000. REQUIRED 1. Compute the budgeted operating income. Compute the breakeven point in units, assuming that the given revenue mix is maintained. 2. Suppose 80,000 units of II, 80,000 units of J, and 40,000 units of K are sold. Compute the budgeted operating income. Compute the new breakeven point in units if these relationships persist in the next period.arrow_forwardBBB Company has capacity to produce 150,000 units a year and sell it for $96 each. The costs of producing and selling 150,000 units are as follows (attached) Required 1. Suppose BBB is currently producing and selling 120,000 units. At this level of production and sales, its fixed costs are the same as given in the preceding table. WWW Company wants to place a onetime special order for 30,000 units at $75 each. Should BBB accept this one-time special order? Show your calculations. 2. Suppose BBB is currently producing and selling 150,000 units. (a) should BBB accept WWW offer one-time special order? Show your calculations. (b) at what price would BBB be indifferent between accepting the special order and continuing to sell to its regular customers at $96 per unit.arrow_forward

Total sales have been forecast at P24 million for the next year, while total fixed costs are expected to be P5.5 million. - Carlyle Lighting Products produces two different types of lamps: a floor lamp and a desk lamp. Floor lamps sell for $30 and desk lamps sell for $20. The projected income statement for the upcoming year follows: Sales $600,000 Less: Variable costs 400,000 Contribution margin 200,000 Less: Fixed costs 150,000 Operating income $50,000 The owner of Carlyle’s estimates that 60 percent of the sales revenues will be produced by floor lamps and the remaining 40 percent by desk lamps.
