Question
Chapter 3, Problem 1R
To determine
Explain the meaning of calculated load.
Expert Solution & Answer
Explanation of Solution
Discussion:
The equivalent value of all the loads connected to a system is said to be calculated load. The power rating of loads differs for different applications. It is also defined as the estimated load for the nominal values.
According to article NEC 220, the calculations for branch circuit, feeder, and service load are made. When all the loads are considered with the proper multipliers, the calculated load is the final result that provides guidance to calculate various types of load. To calculate the loads, both the optimal and standard methods are provided.
Conclusion:
Thus, the meaning of calculated load is explained.
