Introduction:
Contrast is measured by the refractive index of microscopes. Refractive index is the degree of bending of light when it passes from one medium to another, such as from glass to cells. Contrast depends on the difference in the refractive index of both mediums. High difference in the refractive index will produce a sharp contrast, and hence, the specimen will be seen clearer.
