Concept introduction:

The lateral meristems are one of the three types of meristems in plants. The plants have two different lateral meristems, namely-vascular cambium and cork cambium. The vascular cambium forms xylem and phloem. The cork cambium protects epidermis as it gets ruptured when plants grow in diameter.
