Concept introduction:

Body fluids are the fluids present in body which differ in composition to meet their functions. Blood, urine, milk, semen, cerebrospinal fluids, sweat, tear, lymph etc. are body fluids.

Urine is the liquid waste product of the urinary system and it is made up of concentrated liquid called urea, uric acid, creatinine, mineral salts, pigments and 95% water.

A buffer system exists to maintain acid-base balance. Buffers are able to donate H+ to solutions or remove H+ from solution.

Abnormal conditions (such as acidosis and alkalosis) may disturb the acid- base balance in the body.
