The Devonian period is one of the periods of the Paleozoic era, and it began from 419.2 million years ago and lasted for 60 years. Due to the evolution of fishes and other aquatic animals, this period is also known as the Age of the Fishes.
The lob finned fish of that period is the most significant organism due to their evolved lobed from their fins that are further evolved into amphibian's legs. Some of the lobed-fin fishes evolved the nostrils that enabled them to breathe air.
