Concept introduction: The primary reproductive structure of female reproductive system is ovary. Inside the cortex region of the ovary, thousands of ovarian follicles are present. Ovarian follicles contain an oocyte that is surrounded by follicular cells. These follicular cells support the oocyte. The ovarian follicles are of different types, which represent different stages of oocyte development.
