To discuss: Whether neurons developed from embryonic stem cells are able to replace the damaged neurons in several neurological diseases.

Concept introduction: Cells rest at G0 phase before entering the next round of cell cycle. It is where no division or growth occurs. Neurons are permanently halted in G0 and thus lack the ability to grow or reproduce. Once the neurons are damaged, they cannot be replaced like cells of other organs. That is why neurological diseases are fatal and life threatening. Medical research aims to solve this issue. After the advent of stem cell research, stem cells especially embryonic origin are considered to be a potential cure to treat the neurological diseases. Embryonic stem cells are acquired from the blastocyst’s inner cell mass of the early embryo.
