Summary Introduction
Pain medications are generally used to reduce the acute, chronic, and neurologic pain. Pain relieving drugs are derived from either natural, synthetic, or semisynthetic agents. Pain relievers are mostly used to treat headache, muscle ache, toothache, bone fracture, migraine, spain, wound, burn, menstrual cramps, and pain after surgery. The most commonly used pain relievers are paracetamol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, COX-2 inhibitors, steroids, antidepressants, gabapentinoids, and opioids. However, high dose of pain medications may cause some serious side effects.
