To determine: The effect of mutation in LexA gene that prevents the autocatalytic cleavage of LexA protein.
Introduction:
RecA proteins and LexA repressor are the part of SOS response which regulates the DNA repair mechanism if the DNA is damaged due to exposure of DNA damaging agent. RecA protein binds to the damaged site of DNA and produces self-cleavage of the LexA repressor followed by active gene transcription.
