There are eight known planets in the solar system namely Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Explanation of Solution
The solar system consists of objects that are bound by the gravitational pull from the Sun. The solar system has eight known planets along with the Sun. These planets are large bodies that orbit around the Sun. All the planets have their orbital paths roughly in the same plane.
The eight planets are named starting with the one closest to the Sun as Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
