Introduction: Enhancers are distal control elements located away from the transcribing gene. The control elements of enhancers are short DNA nucleotide sequences. They regulate the expression of specific target genes by binding to the specific transcription factors. These may be activators (activate transcription) or repressors (repress transcription). Specific activator proteins bind to the control elements of enhancers and promote transcription.
