Chapter 28, Problem 11U
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
“Choanoflagellates” belong to the group of Opisthokonts which are close to the animals like sponges in the evolutionary history. These organisms have a collar shaped cell with flagella and filaments which helps in the ingestion of food and water. This characteristic feature is close to the features of the cells present in the sponges. There is identity in the surface receptors present on the surface of choanoflagellates and the sponges that aids in cell signaling mechanisms.
