Introduction:

Labor is defined as a series of events that occurs collectively and leads to parturition. Parturition is the expulsion of the fetus from the uterus, through the vaginal opening. Labor may begin within a few hours of mucous plug discharge into the vagina, or may not occur up to 2 weeks.
