The contraction and relaxation of ventricles determine the blood pressure of an individual. The pressure with which blood moves due to contraction of ventricles is termed as the systolic pressure (upper value) and the pressure of the blood when ventricles relax is known as diastolic pressure (lower value). Normal blood pressure of a person is 110/70 mm Hg.
