Concept introduction:
Cerebral cortex is the thin layer of the human brain and it is a major part of the cerebrum which covers the outside portion of it. The cerebral cortex consists of a neural tissue layer called the meninges and often termed as gray matter which has the neuronal cell bodies. Cerebral cortex play an important character in consciousness, language, memory, thought and attention. The cerebral cortex is divided into four lobes, such as frontal lobes, parietal lobes, occipital lobes, and temporal lobes.
