According to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, the allele frequency in a population does not change over time. For the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium to hold the following condition must hold:

• No mutation.
• No genetic drift.
• No evidence of selection.
• No gene flow with another population.
• There should be random mating.
