In this process strong acids catalyse the reaction by donation a proton to the carbonyl group, results in the formation of more potent electrophile and the bases catalyse the reaction removes the proton from the alcohol, results in the formation of more nucleophilic.

Polyesters are the polymers that consist of ester functional group in the main polymer chain. Kodel is type of polyester used in the manufacture of thread.
